FAQ

How do I Switch or just Load Themes in PPX?

There are two methods of loading a theme in PPX. There is the Switch utility that allows quick switching of the Themes that you installed from an .xui file to your Themes folder (/Program Files/PPX/Themes) as is discussed in detail here.

The other method is going into into the main PPX settings area and loading your own choices of Desktop and Taskbar from anywhere on your device, including the Storage Cards. Both methods will be covered here for your ease of use so you can decide which method is easiest for you to use.

Loading Via The Switch Utility:

The first method will be the Switch Utility. If you followed the steps correctly to install your .xui files to the Themes folder, as is discussed in the knowledge base entry listed above, then you are set to begin. If you haven't or had problems reread the steps and try again or contact one of us to guide you through.

To begin you want to open your PPX Start Menu.

Go down the menu to Settings and it will open a small cascade to the right.

Then go down that small cascade window and tap on Interface with your stylus for it to open to the left, where you will see three choices. You want to tap on Switch.

The Switch Utility will popup on the screen and appear in the middle listing all your installed Themes. The Default UI is the theme that comes installed with PPX. Simply tap on the Theme name that you wish to switch to, then tap on the grey button named Switch at the bottem of that popup window. PPX will restart and the Theme that you chose will open.

Loading Via PPX Settings:

This next method is great for those that want to mix and match their Taskbar and Desktops, and is rather easy as well. For this method you don't have to worry about installing your .xui files to the Themes folder, and you can have them anywhere on your device that you want. If you are creating a Theme, then this is the method you would use to initially load your Taskbar and Desktop.

To begin you want to open your PPX Start Menu.

Go down the menu to Settings and it will open a small cascade to the right. On this menu you will see the word, "PPX", which you want to tap on with your stylus. A new window will open with all the main PPX Settings. You will recognise this screen as the one where you entered your registration code.

Once the PPX Settings window is open, you will notice there are three tabs along the bottem of the screen. You want to tap on the one that is named "Settings"

In this window you will see Taskbar, then Desktop labels near the top of the window. Just below these is a text field where the link to your current Taskbar and Desktop are written. To the right of each of these is a grey box with "..." written on each one. For this demonstration i will just be setting the Desktop to a different Desktop, but the Taskbar is set the same, except you tap on the grey box next to the Taskbar text field rather than the one next to the Desktop text field.

To change the Desktop you want to tap on that grey box i just described with "..." written on top of it. This will open a new screen that appears to be a file explorer displaying all the folders on your device in the top half, while the bottem half displays the bitmap files that are inside each folder.

You want to locate the folder where your Theme is located, then tap on that folder so the Taskbar and Desktop bitmap files appear in the lower part of the screen. Since we are changing just the Desktop at the moment, tap on the bitmap file that is your Desktop, then tap on the Ok button located in the upper right corner of the screen.

You will find that the file explorer type window has closed and that you are now back in the PPX Settings screen, and that the text field for the location of your Desktop has changed to whatever new file you have chosen. You can set a different Taskbar as well, or you can simply tap on the Ok button in the lower left corner of the screen.

Once you tap on that Ok button in the lower left corner of the screen a popup will come up on your screen asking if you would like to "Save settings and apply?" If you are ready then just tap on the Yes button and it will reset PPX with your new Desktop and/or Taskbar choice. If you tap on No, then nothing will happen and you can change your settings once again until you are ready to tap on yes.

Here is how my mixed PPX95 Desktop with the Default Taskbar looks after tapping on the Yes button.
